Junk Removal Guide
Dothan runs two separate systems: the City of Dothan collects garbage, recycling, and limited bulk items for city utility customers, while Houston County Sanitation (billing office at 1691 Ross Clark Circle) handles collection outside city limits. Neither is built to take everything — which is where private junk removal comes in.
Full property cleanouts (estates, rental turnovers), garage and shed contents beyond a single pile, construction and renovation debris in real quantity, yard debris beyond the city's 5-foot limb limit, and multiple appliances at once — the kind of volume that would take weeks of scheduled curbside pickups to clear.
Like every hauler in Alabama, we can't take paint, chemicals, motor oil, gasoline, asbestos, or medical waste — the same materials the City of Dothan landfill and ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Management) regulate separately. These require a licensed hazardous-waste disposal path, not standard collection. Houston County periodically runs household hazardous waste collection events — worth checking the county's site if you have a garage full of old paint cans.
The Dothan Sanitary Landfill accepts self-hauled loads Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. City environmental services customers can use it at no extra charge; non-city residents and commercial haulers pay a per-ton tipping fee. It's a real option for a small load and a free afternoon — for everything else, that's what we're for.
Just ask. Call (334) 555-0142 and describe it — we'll tell you straight away whether we can take it.
